Burlingame Intermediate School

Participation is limited for both the bike rodeo and bike safety class - reserve your spot today at EventBrite

This year's BWR is featuring a student-only bike obstacle course from Avid4Adventure. Please note, the Bike Commuter Safety Class has been canceled due to under-enrollment.

The student bike course will feature different skill levels, from just-off-training-wheels to a more intermediate/advanced mountain bike training course. Each skill level activity will be an hour long and will include a gear safety check, road awareness training, and the on-bike obstacle course designed to build the confidence of all bikers. The will be three levels designed to meet the skills of all participants:

1) Very Beginner (9:30AM - 10:30AM) -  for those trying to get off training wheel, Avid4Adventure personnel specialize working with this group of riders;

2) Beginning Skills (10:30AM - 11:30AM) -  for those already riding but who need to improve riding skills and increase traffic safety knowledge;

3) Intermediate (11:30AM - 12:30AM) - for those who need a challenge.

Participation is limited - Reserve your spot today

What to Expect at the Event:

Bike Skills Training: On the Eventbrite registration page, you will choose one of the three levels in which to sign-up your child(ren). Based on the skill level selected, there will be instructors throughout the course to provide level-appropriate instruction on riding and safety. Riders still using training wheels will be encouraged to remove them (service provided onsite) and given special instructions. Riders will go through a bike and helmet safety check, then begin riding through a bike course designed for their riding level. Each skill level will last for one hour - 15 minutes of instruction and safety checks, and 45 minutes of riding. The bike skills training course is open to only BSD students.

Please have your child bring their bike and helmet, sun protection, and water and a light snack, and be sure to bring completed copies of the Participation Waiver Form.

Bike Powered Food: We will have our bike blenders hard at work pedaling out smoothies and snack foods like hummus and other dips. Riders can take a break at any time to get refreshed and have a snack.

Helmet Services: Helmet inspections and adjustments will be available throughout the day.

Bike Repair Services: the Bay Area's Bike Mobile will be on site from 9 AM to 12:00 PM to provide free bike tune-ups and minor repairs services. The mechanics have limited capacity so preference will be given to BSD students. Sign-ups can be placed at the event directly with the mechanics. First come, first served. There will also be bike tools that can be used to make minor adjustments and to remove training wheels.

Bike Commuter Class - CANCELED due to under-enrollment.
