Turning Tuesdays - Compost Makers Club (BIS)

This club is not just for garden lovers, but also for those wanting a free weight-bearing (good for the bones) physical activity to warm up there Tuesday mornings. Every Tuesday morning, from 7:15 to 8:00 AM, this group will meet at the BIS garden to work the district's compost piles. The BIS garden takes in a significant portion of the district's grass clippings and leaves and turns them into locally-sourced finished compost. All participants will be encouraged to take home their labor in the form of finished compost, and excess compost is available to our school gardens or will be sold as a garden fundraiser.  Starts September 18

All supplies, including rubber boots, aprons, gloves, and hand tools will be provided. If other school gardens have compost piles needing turning, the Compost Makers club is ready for you, too.

Meditation at Lincoln

Meditation is scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety and promotes mindfulness, memory, self awareness, kindness, and many other positive lifestyle traits.

Join Fallyn Smith for weekly meditation practice on Wednesdays, 3:30 - 4:15 at Lincoln Elementary.

The Notebooks Sing

Singing, unlike coffee, improves your mental alertness through improving your blood circulation and increasing your oxygenated blood. The more oxygen reaching your brain the more mentally alert you are, the more you can concentrate and utilize memory. Visit the TakeLessons website for more information on the health benefits of singing. Better yet, join the BSD's staff Choir, The Notebooks. Please contact Jenny Coleman for more information.
